Join us at 12pm on January 12th at the Landmark Square Conference Center (4 Landmark Square, Stamford, CT) to learn about the recent Bridgeport International Academy (BIA) multi-measure energy efficiency retrofit project. RENEW's Energy Service Agreement (ESA) model provided an innovative way to fund this project with the assistance of the Connecticut Green Bank. Speakers Steve Pritchard (RENEW Energy Partners), Frank LaGrotteria (Principal, BIA), and Anthony Clark (Connecticut Green Bank) will talk about how the project came together and what they have learned.
Innovative Funding for Energy Efficiency Upgrades: A Connecticut Case Study
Working with RENEW Energy Partners (“RENEW”) and RENEW’s design/build team of Integrated Building Services and Coastal Mechanical, Inc. Bridgeport International Academy (“BIA”) successfully implemented a multi-measure energy efficiency retrofit of its main building at 285 Lafayette Street in Bridgeport without any upfront capital investment.
Under RENEW’s Energy Services Agreement (“ESA”), RENEW funded, designed and built, and now operates and maintains the retrofit project, which includes comprehensive LED lighting upgrades, installation of a building management system and the replacement of 19 water source heat pumps.
Under the ESA structure, BIA preserved its capital budget for deployment to other school priorities. BIA is paying for the energy services out of the savings and is eliminating 120 Metric Tons of CO2 emissions per year (equivalent to the annual emissions from 25 cars).
The CT Green Bank worked with RENEW to provide project debt (to RENEW, not to BIA) to support inclusion of the full range of efficiency measures sought by BIA. The Green Bank’s investment is an important milestone in its effort to expand the range of clean energy financing options in Connecticut
Come learn about the ESA model and how it provides an innovative way to fund energy efficiency projects in commercial, industrial and institutional buildings.
Speakers: Steve Pritchard (RENEW Energy Partners), Frank LaGrotteria (Principal, BIA) and Anthony Clark (Connecticut Green Bank) will talk about how the project came together and what they have learned about how to make these projects work.
