200 Occidental Building is located in the heart Pioneer Square. It represents how design can drive the business decisions of regional leaders like Weyerhaeuser. By moving headquarters from Federal Way to Seattle, they bring hundreds of workers to what was once a parking lot. The 215,000 SF office building is pursuing LEED Platinum certification, as well as four Green Globes certification by GBI.
It’s integrated framework of design, construction, and operations contributes to energy conservation, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and improves the health of the building’s occupants. It efficiently uses energy, water, materials, and waste by including natural ventilation strategies, sustainable site development and environmentally preferable products. Thanks to it’s location next to a major transportation hub 90% of the building’s inhabitants are estimated to commute by mass transit, cycling, or walking.
