Seattle 2030 District Leads Effort to Update City's High Performance Building Program
Seattle’s 84-year-old Aurora Bridge is built with steel downspouts that dump 3.2 million gallons of untreated rainwater directly into the ship canal between Lake Union and Puget Sound every year, something that bridge designers in the 1930s probably never considered to be a problem.

The 2030 Districts program is gaining steam. The latest district is in Ithaca and Tomkins County, New York. Late last month, it became the thirteenth district — and a fourteenth may be on the way.
Ithaca, NY; June 28, 2016 – On Tuesday, June 28th, 17 local building owners, community partners, and professional stakeholders came together to launch the Ithaca 2030 District. Ithaca now joins the ranks of 12 other forward-thinking cities in the U.S. and Canada that are working toward the goal of cleaner and greener commercial buildings. The Ithaca 2030 District is the first 2030 District in New York State.
