Practical Building Blocks to Deep Green and Healthy Buildings: From Pre-construction to Operations
Sponsor and Guest Presenter
Skanska’s Matt Williams and Myrrh Caplan will share a variety of practices, tools, and choices that have been providing the greatest value and results for their clients.
Matt comes from the construction execution side of the table and Myrrh comes from the sustainability consulting side, to show holistically how forward-thinking clients and their projects are staying ahead of trends and future goals.
We start with the client’s mission and values, sharing tools around reducing carbon and environmental impacts, discussing certification programs that help us in envisioning and providing proof, and highlighting specific systems and materials that are moving to the front of the line in terms of health.
Next we will share the deep green approach in construction that was critical to the success of The Kendeda Building at Georgia Tech, considered one of the most green projects in the world and currently in the performance phase of application for the Living Building Challenge certification.
Then we will close with how a proactive facility management guide, with early development starting in design, can inform better design as well as save time and money leading into occupancy and operations.
