The US House passes Better Buildings Energy Efficiency Bill

On page 32, the bill (Better Buildings Energy Efficiency Bill) requires DOE to operate and maintain an online database to store and make available public energy-related information on commercial and multifamily buildings (the Standard Energy Efficiency Database or “SEED”) and to allow cities and companies to use this database to voluntarily publish building information. This provision should make it easier for cities to harmonize and coordinate their policies, making it easier for owners of buildings in multiple cities to comply with multiple benchmarking laws.

IMT worked with a coalition including the Real Estate Roundtable, which took a leading role in drafting Tenant Star and other key provisions.
